Second, just because you can?t see it, doesn?t mean it isn?t there, and we?re talking about mold and mildew. Mold needs water to grow and that happens in as little as 12 hours. Add a waterproof barrier between the top layer (such as COREtec Waterproof Flooring) and subfloor, and the problem gets eliminated. This is ultra-important in San Diego, where it?s humid, near water, and where moist soil can be dragged into the house just from the soles of the shoes. Of course, if you have a leak that trickles to the downstairs floor, you?ll probably see some mold on that ceiling as well.
